Description:

He stole her lipstick…and her heart.

Twenty-year-old Dani Walker can’t believe her luck when she’s paired up with the gorgeous Liam Garrett as her Acting I scene partner – or when he ends up in her bed. Being a Plain Jane with a mouth on her hasn’t exactly served Dani well in the guy department. In fact, she’s had nothing but one night stands. Still, she lets go of her insecurities and falls for Liam, despite feeling like he’s holding something back.

When Dani finally discovers Liam’s secret, she must learn the true meaning of accepting the ones we love for who they are, or risk losing the best thing that’s ever happened to her.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this book which started out with Dani Walker who’s the girl that never seems to get the “IT” guy the popular, attractive guy that the popular girls get. When she meets Liam Garrett she wonders why he’s picking her out of all the girls at school to hook up with.

What Dani learns are the secrets of Liam and why he’s not just with any girl. It was such a great love story, showing diversity and acceptance. Learning to love and accept what you may not know about some people their hidden secrets and such.

I think everyone young adult around the 18 year mark should check out this book and learn the valuable lessons Dani learns it’s such a great romantic story!

The car sped around a corner, and a couple of hundred yards away Tracie could see the control tower and FAA base building. She slowed slightly, trying to come up with some kind of action plan, when a side window in the base building shattered. The glass exploded outward as a metal folding chair flew through the window, followed a heartbeat later by a tumbling body. It looked like Shane Rowley.

He dived through the window and landed on top of the chair, then rolled onto his back and looked up at the window. A second man appeared. The man was older, and as he tried to climb out, his body began to stutter as bullets ripped into him from behind, and then he slumped across the frame.

Shane scrambled to his feet and ran along the narrow alleyway between the base building and the control tower. He burst into the parking lot and ran straight into a man holding a silenced handgun. The man was facing away from Tracie, but she could see him raise the gun and shove the barrel into Shane’s forehead.

And she didn’t hesitate.

She drove her foot to the floor and aimed the Datsun straight at the pair. The gunman didn’t seem to have heard the sound of the little car’s engine, or perhaps didn’t comprehend the significance. Shane was facing the vehicle and Tracie hoped he would understand her intent.

The car leapt forward and the two men grew steadily larger in the windshield. The gunman seemed to be talking, asking Shane a question or maybe threatening him. Nothing in Shane’s demeanor gave away the fact that a speeding car was hurtling toward them. At the last moment Shane dived to the side, just as it seemed to occur to the man in the suit that something was wrong.

Shane hit the pavement and rolled. He disappeared from sight as the Datsun plowed into the man with the gun, catching him in the side with a sickening thud. His body flew up and over the hood. He crashed into the windshield and then tumbled over the roof in an ungainly somersault.

Tracie watched in the rearview mirror as the man dropped onto the pavement and lay still. She slammed on the brakes and skidded to a stop just shy of a big vehicle with U.S. Government plates. Then she jammed the car into reverse and began backing up, one eye on the gunman, still crumpled in an unmoving heap in the middle of the parking lot, one eye searching for Shane.

She spotted him crouched between two parked  cars just as the base building’s front door crashed open and two more men exited the building at a dead run. The men wore suits similar to the downed gunman and each was holding a gun. They turned right and ran toward Tracie and their injured conspirator.

And Shane.

Tracie leaned across the front seat and shoved the passenger door open. “Get in here, now!” she screamed.

Cold Killing by: Luke Delaney

Author: Luke Delaney
Publisher: William Morrow
Pages: 437
Series: D.I Sean Corrigan #1
Format: Arc Paperback
Source: Partners In Crime Book Tour
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes and Noble

Description:

Terrifyingly authentic, London-set debut crime novel with a psychological edge, by an ex-Met detective. Perfect for fans of Mark Billingham, Peter James and Stuart MacBride.

DI Sean Corrigan is not like other detectives. The terrible abuse he suffered in childhood hasn’t stopped him enjoying family life with his wife and two daughters, or pursuing an impressive career with South London’s Murder Investigation Unit. But it has left him with an uncanny ability to identify the darkness in others – a darkness he recognizes still exists deep within his own psyche and battles to keep buried there. Now Sean’s on the trail of the most dangerous killer he’s ever encountered. The perpetrator has no recognizable MO, leaves no forensic evidence and his victims have nothing in common. But Sean knows they were all murdered by the same man. Now all he has to do is find the evidence, convince his bosses and stop the killing …before his adversary gets too close to home…

My Thoughts:

Early in this book we walk through the crime with the murderer as he kills a young man named Daniel Graydon who was a gay man who charged his clients for sexual services.  Next we get meet D. I Sean Corrigan who has this ability to know what the killer thinks and how he killed his victim.  All clues lead to one killer, but Corrigan is positive that their suspect has committed crimes before.  Even though his record appears squeaky clean Corrigan’s gut says there is more to this than meets the eye.

This book takes place in South London, which has different lingo but still a great story with fabulous characters and makes you wonder to what extent will Corrigan and his team go to get their bad guy.  This book was full of action and a big case of cat and mouse chase.  This book would be great for anyone who loves James Patterson’s Private series or British based crime books.  Definitely a great read and really entertaining.  I loved it.

Oddly, Elle has a gap in her memory; she can’t account for her activity during the time of his murder. As she tries to clear herself by finding out how Charlie died, she discovers that she had plenty of reason to kill him. Charlie had secr ets. Infidelity. Unsavory business associates. Involvement with an international organization of sex abusers. The more she learns, the more danger she faces. As unscrupulous people begin to fear she’ll expose them, Elle races against time to avoid arrest, fight off attackers, solve the murder, and make peace with Charlie’s spirit.

My Thoughts:

This book starts out with Elle and her ending her marriage with Charlie and going out with her friends who end up discussing how to do a man in.  Elle ends up bored at the bar and decides to head home.  When she finds her ex-husband to be dead on the sofa in her house with a knife.  Soon it becomes obvious that Elle is in trouble and has to figure out what is going on.  What an adventure this book takes you on with the ups and downs.  It’s a great thrilling ride that many would love to go on!

Title: The Loved and The Lost

Publisher: Fiction Studio Books
Pages: 314
Series: Verona Trilogy #3

Format: Paperback

Description:

They are three time travelers desperate to return to 14th-century Verona to reclaim their medieval family s shattered lives. It is a mission fraught with danger and the risk of unexpected consequences for themselves and for their worlds. For all three, it is a matter of the heart. For one, though, it is truly the only thing that matters, as the fate of his eternal love and the life of their unborn child is the prize to be won or lost forever. In this, the final book of THE VERONA TRILOGY, Hansum, Shamira and Lincoln go on the boldest adventure of their lives. They will face hardship, tragedy, and threats from sources they couldn t have imagined all in an effort to wrestle a future from the steely grip of an unforgiving past.  Definitely a great ending to the series I really enjoyed this one alot with the historical information wrapped into a great Young Adult series!

My Thoughts:

The kids are back in their own time and finding themselves part of the time travel History Camp Academy.  While Lincoln has found his calling and Shamira has found love with Kingsley who has an interest in art as Shamira does.  Hansum is still lost having lost his wife to 14th century Verona, and wanting to find a way to go back and save her.  The kids have grown up quite a bit since their time in 14th century Verona.  The one regret Hansum has is not saving his wife in time.  With their teachers they are able to go back to 14th century and see parts of their history and the mistakes they make.  This book was full of twists and turns and wanting to know how it ends, definitely a great way to wrap up the story.  This also set up the great love story of Romeo and Juliet and is a great spin on their relationship.  This being the third book I think people who want to read this will definitely have to go in order to appreciate the story.

The Truth about Salvatore’s Revenge by: Ta’Mara Hanscom

The-Truth-banner

1. What inspired you to write your first book?

My husband had asked me for a divorce and I wasn’t comfortable with that. So I sat down and started typing. No kidding, I typed 900 pages in 21 days. I’d sit down at my computer at about 4:30 a.m., and not get up until about 8:00 that night. My eldest daughter (who was 13 at the time) brought food to my desk so that I wouldn’t have to stop writing. She and the neighbor lady were instantly hooked on the story and they’d read the pages that I’d typed the day before. As the years marched on, and I continued to work on the series, my husband came to know the Lord and he forgot about the divorce. Our marriage turned into a relationship that I had only dreamed about. Had I not been so distracted with writing these books, I would have left him years ago — and never saw what a wonderful person he is.

2. What books have influenced your life the most?

The Bible. God’s Word has changed me and the way I behave.

3. What are your current projects

I am working on Book # 6 of The Caselli Family Series. The working title is A Place Too Far From Grace. Also, I’m working on writing a Bible study Rebuilding the Temple, and it’s based out of the Old Testament book of Zechariah.

4. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

No. That’s my favorite book thus far.

5. What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?

Another author told me that Book 2 Pit of Ambition was “redundant.” Ouch, that really hurt. On the other hand, no one has said that before, and I’ve had hundreds of readers, so I’ve been trying to let it go J

6. What has been the best compliment?

My dear friend, Ronnette, who passed away just as Book 3 A Blackguard’s Redemption was going to print, said, “The Casellis have changed my life and the way I think about things.” I think of that almost every day, especially now that she’s gone. She spent a lot of time reading the rough drafts and giving feedback. By the time we started publishing, we estimated that Ronnette had read about one million words. She was dedicated!

7. Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers?

I study for about 3 hours in the morning, and I write for the rest of the day (sometimes 5-7 hours). I get up early. It’s imperative to stay on a schedule and guard your time. Interruptions throw me off balance, so I turn off my phone. I check my messages and email only twice a day—unless I have something going on that’s extremely important. Stay off the internet. It steals your time and keeps you from your work. Work hard all day (8-10 hours at least), but leave your evenings and weekends free, if at all possible. You will produce a higher quality product.

8. What is your favorite quality about yourself?

I’m extremely thorough and precise when it comes to detail and the resultant finished product.

9. What is your least favorite quality about yourself?

My favorite quality (#8) leads to my worst fault. I can become obsessive and lose myself in a quagmire.

10. Is there anything else you would like to share?

Things are not always as they appear. People and circumstances are sometimes quite different from what we see, but the only unchanging thing in this entire universe is our Savior.

ABOUT THE CASELLI FAMILY SERIES

Description: The Pretender

BOOK 1 – THE PRETENDER

My Jean-Marc’s uncle was married to an English woman, and she told us once, a very long time ago, that in this world there are men of two kinds. The one, the knight, is the man possessing only strength and quality of moral character. He will never ask a lady to compromise her honor for less than a vow, and never, ever will he consider another once he has captured her heart. A knight keeps his vow, even when it hurts, and the honor of a knight is a thing a country is built upon. A knight comes along only seldom these days.

Now, a blackguard is a man who can be found quite easily, for it is an easy thing to be a blackguard. He attempts to trick the young ladies into taking him home and caring for him, making them believe their honor can be given away as a mere trifle, offering no vow, and making only human demands. The blackguard is to be avoided at all costs, for to settle for someone like him is to settle for something less than ideal.

In the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, Tillie Caselli promises to marry Noah Hansen. Theirs’ was a love intended to last, and their promises were never to be broken. But when there’s an illusion of unfaithfulness, the result is an error in judgment—an error that changes the course of lives.

Epic romance, global adventure, ethnic passion, and Christian values inspire this new series.
