The Little Sparrow Named Too by: E. Dantes

My Review:

This was a great kids book about a bird that is named Too and wants to fly like other birds but his wings are long enough so he tries to make them bigger by using other feathers, gum from under shoes and other things to secure the wings, but once he is up really high he finds his new wings falling apart!  Which sends him soaring to the ground but all is not lost as Too will find a way.

The pictures in this book are great really well illustrated!

ABOUT E. DANTES

Hi, I’m Dantes, the author of a new series of illustrated children’s books about a little sparrow named “Too”.

Due to my father’s job, my early years were spent running barefoot around the wildernesses of the world and though it gave me a rich appreciation of “Bonne Terre” – literacy came a little later than most. Yet every night literature was still there, with either my mother or father reading a bedtime story.

Concerned with my education, my parents made the hard decision to ship me off to boarding school. During those first long nights away from home, I suffered incredible homesickness and that’s when I discovered the magic of words. Reading the same books I had heard at bedtime somehow made me feel closer to home and in those familiar paragraphs my pangs slipped away. To this day good books are still both my joy and my solace.

The Adventures of Too book series is my “thank you” to children’s literature and it carries only one hope, that a new generation of readers feel the same lasting connection to books as I do.

The Sassy Belles are back

and this time, wedding bells are ringing!

Seven months pregnant and head over heels in love, Vivi Ann McFadden is busy pulling together the final details for her wedding to Lewis Heart, famous play-by-play announcer for the Crimson Tide. But with two wedding-planners-gone-wild, a psychic giving her advice, and the ceremony happening on the same day as the wildly popular Crimson Tide kickoff game, chaos reigns supreme. Luckily, maid of honor Blake O’Hara Heart is on the job. She’ll tackle this wedding if it’s the last thing she does!

But not everyone is cheering for the happy couple. News of the upcoming nuptials has brought Lewis’s old flame back to Tuscaloosa and she’s got a secret that could mean the end of Lewis’s marriage before it even begins.

Sexy Southern funwith a hint of magnolia!

My Thoughts:

Vivi McFadden is getting ready to get married and have her first baby with her fiance Lewis Heart, but what she doesn’t know is that he’s already married. Part of some hazing in college he got roped into a “fake wedding” but what he doesn’t realize is how real it was.

Also Blake O’Hara who’s all but divorced her no good jerky husband except he’s running for office and now she has to play the happy wife who isn’t stepping out on her no good jerk of a husband with Sonny a chief homicide detective. A man she loved since she was a young belle.

Also while all this is going on Blake is also working on a murder case of her client’s family of Walter Aaron’s who are fighting with insurance company to get his death benefits. Which opens all sorts of issues as to who would want to kill him? Or why he got a secret marriage all of the sudden and then died. And who is the mysterious bride Mrs. Tamlyn H. Hartman Aaron?

This book was so much fun I felt like I was reading similar books I’ve read by Sherryl Woods her magnolia series, I would definitely put this book in with those. I love southern women stories, they have such character, dedication and lots of love to share! Definitely my new go to author for southern books and fun characters! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Description:

Revenge is sweet… Sophie Winston and her BFF, Nina Reid Norwood, share a sweet spot for animals. So Sophie is delighted to help when Nina cooks up Cupcakes and Pupcakes—a fundraising event for animal shelters. All the local bakeries will be selling treats, with the profits going to pups and kitties in need. But Old Town is in for a whole batch of trouble when a cupcake war erupts between two bakeries… Tongues wag and tempers rise when a partner leaves Sugar Baby Bakery and unveils her competing cupcakery, Sugar Mama, precisely as the fundraiser gets under way. Just as it seems nothing else can go wrong, Sugar Baby’s sole remaining employee is found dead. Suspicion falls on the feuding owners, but the scrumptious new guy in town is also raising some eyebrows. Now Sophie and Nina have to sift through the clues and discover who isn’t as sweet as they seem…

My Thoughts:

Sophie is back and helping her BFF Nina with a cupcake and pupcakes fundraiser event to promote adoption of animals. And there is so much more going on, first Sophie has a run in with Clarissa who accuses Sophie of sleeping with her husband, although this seems to be a running issue through out the whole book. Clarissa can’t seem to get the point that just cause she was with Wolf at one point doesn’t mean she’s a husband stealer.

Then someone steals a dog who Spencer the husband of Clarrissa was interested in adopting. The girls set out to find the missing pup. Not long into this book does it take for a murder to take place when Renee’s assistant Muffin winds up dead and found by Humphrey and Sophie. Which has everyone’s jaws flapping to figure out who had it out for Muffin. Then someone is poisoning General Euclid German, with cupcakes, which cuts short the black tie event for adoptions of pets.

At the same time someone drugged Joy who use to work with Renee but since has opened her own cupcakery. And this results with some crazy hallucinations by Joy. Luckily she is rescued by all the attendants at the black tie event.

Then to make things even more confusing and asking more questions Humphrey later that same night is arrested for larceny for stealing a valuable cupcake. It’s up to Sophie, Humphrey, Nina, Francine, and everyone else to find out what is happening in Old Town.

This book had so much going on what I loved is that for once Sophie got to step back and do other things and not be baking the days away. That was a nice change to see her doing other things I especially loved the theme of cupcakes and pupcakes. It was also nice to see that Natasha is not as good at something that Sophie is great at taking care of animals. Natasha adopted Martha and the two never connected no matter how hard Natasha tried to force the issue. It was great to see Sophie excel at something where Natasha can’t.

The part that I think is needing to be addressed is the relationship between Mars, Sophie and Natasha. A few books ago Sophie and Mars had a heated kiss which seemed to go nowhere, and in this book it was obvious that Natasha is alienating people, including embarrassing Mars and it would be nice to see what comes of this issue. Is Mars regretting divorcing Sophie? Does he still pine for her? Will they get back together? They seem to mesh well so I’m wondering if the divorce was a mistake? Also I think Natasha doesn’t need to go to the point she goes to making Sophie feel bad when she gets insulted all the time by her. Natasha just rubs me the wrong way, but there are so many good parts to the story so I deal with the annoying Natasha the main diva of the stories. I don’t really consider Sophie a Diva as much as Natasha.

All in all a great book I enjoyed and was well worth the purchase I made. It definitely made a great book to read for spring going into summer!

Description:

M. J. Holliday has the unusual ability to talk to the dead. But when it comes to a vengeful ghost and a mysterious drowning, this time she may be in over her head….

THAT SINKING FEELING

Kidwella Castle in northern Wales is rumored to be haunted by a deadly ghost—the Grim Widow, who allegedly drowns unsuspecting guests in the castle’s moat. Not long after M. J. and her crew arrive at the castle to film their ghost-hunting cable TV show, Ghoul Getters, two new victims are added to the Widow’s grisly roster.

Fear ripples through the castle, especially when it’s discovered that the victims may have had help into their watery graves from the land of the living. The local inspector suspects father-son serial killers, but M. J. thinks that theory is all wet. To catch the true culprit she will need to dive deep into the castle’s past and bring some long buried secrets to the surface.

My Thoughts:

Usually M.J, Heath, Gilley, Gopher, Meg, Kim and John end up dealing with ghosts that have severe issues but nothing they have done up to this point would have them prepared for what they deal with in this book. Besides Ghost Busting they also are dealing with a serial killer, who seems to be targeting men.

This book had so much suspense and action and one severely ticked off ghost who is out to collect as many souls as possible chaining them to her. When M.J and Heath end up in the hospital M.J. decides that they need to free the souls attached to this evil ghost.

They also end up solving the mysterious murders with the help of Clarence a ghost who was killed by someone other than the ghost.

I love this series going back to see how the gang is doing and watching M.J’s relationship with Heath in this one Gilley gets a love interest how long it lasts is anyone’s guess.

Twenty-year-old Dani Walker can’t believe her luck when she’s paired up with the gorgeous Liam Garrett as her Acting I scene partner – or when he ends up in her bed. Being a Plain Jane with a mouth on her hasn’t exactly served Dani well in the guy department. In fact, she’s had nothing but one night stands. Still, she lets go of her insecurities and falls for Liam, despite feeling like he’s holding something back.

When Dani finally discovers Liam’s secret, she must learn the true meaning of accepting the ones we love for who they are, or risk losing the best thing that’s ever happened to her.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this book which started out with Dani Walker who’s the girl that never seems to get the “IT” guy the popular, attractive guy that the popular girls get. When she meets Liam Garrett she wonders why he’s picking her out of all the girls at school to hook up with.

What Dani learns are the secrets of Liam and why he’s not just with any girl. It was such a great love story, showing diversity and acceptance. Learning to love and accept what you may not know about some people their hidden secrets and such.

I think everyone young adult around the 18 year mark should check out this book and learn the valuable lessons Dani learns it’s such a great romantic story!

Series: The Crescent Chronicles #1

Description:

Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

My Thoughts:

I was given this book in exchange for a honest and fair review.  I received no money to sway my opinion.

Allie and her friend Jess take to New Orleans for a job working for Allie’s father.  Allie is all set in her path in life to go to Princeton.  What she didn’t count on was meeting Levi who seems to fire something inside of her not even she could predict.  Jess starts out as a typical friend the opposite of Allie early on Jess ends up leaving and in so leaves Allie on her own like her father does.  She takes up with Levi knowing that there is something mysterious about him and doing her best to figure it out.

We also meet Levi’s friend Jared, Owen and Owen’s sister Hailey.  Hailey ends up being a great friend to Allie bonding with her.  Filing in the hole left by Jess, Hailey fills in Allie on the supernatural side of Levi.

I really enjoyed this story I can’t wait to see how it continues it’s definitely up there with some of the greatest YA authors like Lauren Kate, Becca Fitzpatrick and Cate Tiernan to mention a few.  I think everyone who loves YA, paranormal will love this story!

Series: Paskagankee #2

Description:

A sacred Navajo artifact, imbued with a shocking and dangerous power.

An amoral con man, willing to stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

And a tiny northern Maine town, isolated and vulnerable.

Last November, Paskagankee, Maine was shaken to its core, held hostage by a centuries-old curse, terrorized by a brutal killing spree stopped at the last possible moment by new police chief Mike McMahon and beautiful young patrol officer Sharon Dupont.

Now, just as the pair—and the town—is beginning to recover, a new horror comes calling.

Billionaire Seattle software designer Brett Parker is in Paskagankee to check on the progress of his newly-constructed summer retreat. But he’s not the only new resident in town. Max Acton, murderous sociopath and Arizona cult leader, has gained possession of a long-hidden sacred Navajo artifact with the ability to reanimate the dead.

Acton aims to use the stone in a murderous plot to kidnap Parker and steal his revolutionary new software design developed for the U.S. Department of Defense, selling it to the highest bidder and making millions. He doesn’t even need to get his hands dirty. All he needs is a victim to kill . . . and reanimate . . . and force to do his bidding.

All he needs is a revenant.

And the revenant is angry. And he’s deadly. And he’s unstoppable. And the town of Paskagankee will once again become a battleground between the living and the dead . . .

My Thoughts:

Oh my gosh what a thrilling book, I was hooked on this series with the first one and this book is just as good.  Mike McMahon is the police chief of Paskagankee Maine where not much happens that was until the previous year and the ex-chief’s murdering spree atleast that is the official story,  Now Mike and Sharon find themselves fighting against another evil spirit.  When a sacred stone goes missing it’s up to Mike and Sharon to find out where it is and what any of this has to do with a local drunk.

Sharon finds herself dealing with the overly dead drunk running or limping around trying to find away to separate the stone from the overly dead guy.  I am such a huge fan of Allan Leverone he writes crazy awesome thrillers that have you putting everything else on hold to finish the book.  The sign of a awesome writer is the ability to keep people’s attention for the whole story.  I love how he is able to weave spirits, and Native American’s into his stories.  Definitely someone I love to tour with!  Just don’t keep us hanging to long for your next book!
