Author: Hy Conrad
Publisher: Penguin Group
Pages: 286
Series: Mr Monk
Format: Hardcover

Description:
Now that Monk and Natalie are both in San Francisco again, life is almost back to normal for the duo, with one exception: Natalie is studying for her PI license, the last step to becoming Monk’s full partner.

Before taking the plunge, Natalie sneaks off to Half Moon Bay for a retreat run by Miranda Bigley, charismatic leader of the Best Possible Me self-help program, whose philosophy has helped Natalie deal with her recent life changes. But her plans for a relaxing weekend away are disrupted when Monk tracks her down, determined to rescue her from the cult.” Their argument is cut short when Miranda, in full view of everyone, calmly walks to the edge of a cliff and jumps off.

Even though Miranda’s death looks like suicide—especially when it’s discovered that she was on the brink of financial disaster—Natalie is sure it is murder. But Monk brushes her off to help the SFPD solve the murder of a clown, despite his coulrophobia, or fear of clowns—number ninety-nine on his list of one hundred phobias.

As Natalie and Monk begin their separate investigations, they are quickly caught up in many precarious situations, but if they want to figure out whodunit, they will have to find a way to become true partners….

My Thoughts:

I felt like reading this book was going back to the television shows and reminded me so much of Adrian and Natalie’s banter from television which I think is great when a writer can continue what was done on tv.  This one follows Natalie as she is trying to pass the P.I. test to become a licensed private investigator.  She goes off on a retreat at Half Moon Bay and not long into that her self help guru has committed suicide but Natalie doesn’t buy it something doesn’t add up.  Meanwhile Monk is dealing with a murder of his own when a Clown ends up dead, for Monk this is a huge deal as he has an OCD to Clowns.

Like any Monk story this one has all the makings of a great story.  We get to see Leland the head of the police department and how he has to get Monk on board to deal with the clown death, and how no one is buying into Natalie’s theories on the guru death. This one had all sorts of great ups and downs and very true to Monk fashion in the end we get the “this is how it happened” that everyone loves!  I am definitely going to check out all the Monk books as I am a huge fan of the tv show and miss it dearly!

The Little Sparrow Named Too by: E. Dantes

My Review:

This was a great kids book about a bird that is named Too and wants to fly like other birds but his wings are long enough so he tries to make them bigger by using other feathers, gum from under shoes and other things to secure the wings, but once he is up really high he finds his new wings falling apart!  Which sends him soaring to the ground but all is not lost as Too will find a way.

The pictures in this book are great really well illustrated!

ABOUT E. DANTES

Hi, I’m Dantes, the author of a new series of illustrated children’s books about a little sparrow named “Too”.

Due to my father’s job, my early years were spent running barefoot around the wildernesses of the world and though it gave me a rich appreciation of “Bonne Terre” – literacy came a little later than most. Yet every night literature was still there, with either my mother or father reading a bedtime story.

Concerned with my education, my parents made the hard decision to ship me off to boarding school. During those first long nights away from home, I suffered incredible homesickness and that’s when I discovered the magic of words. Reading the same books I had heard at bedtime somehow made me feel closer to home and in those familiar paragraphs my pangs slipped away. To this day good books are still both my joy and my solace.

The Adventures of Too book series is my “thank you” to children’s literature and it carries only one hope, that a new generation of readers feel the same lasting connection to books as I do.

Description:

He stole her lipstick…and her heart.

Twenty-year-old Dani Walker can’t believe her luck when she’s paired up with the gorgeous Liam Garrett as her Acting I scene partner – or when he ends up in her bed. Being a Plain Jane with a mouth on her hasn’t exactly served Dani well in the guy department. In fact, she’s had nothing but one night stands. Still, she lets go of her insecurities and falls for Liam, despite feeling like he’s holding something back.

When Dani finally discovers Liam’s secret, she must learn the true meaning of accepting the ones we love for who they are, or risk losing the best thing that’s ever happened to her.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this book which started out with Dani Walker who’s the girl that never seems to get the “IT” guy the popular, attractive guy that the popular girls get. When she meets Liam Garrett she wonders why he’s picking her out of all the girls at school to hook up with.

What Dani learns are the secrets of Liam and why he’s not just with any girl. It was such a great love story, showing diversity and acceptance. Learning to love and accept what you may not know about some people their hidden secrets and such.

I think everyone young adult around the 18 year mark should check out this book and learn the valuable lessons Dani learns it’s such a great romantic story!

Cold Killing by: Luke Delaney

Author: Luke Delaney
Publisher: William Morrow
Pages: 437
Series: D.I Sean Corrigan #1
Format: Arc Paperback
Source: Partners In Crime Book Tour
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes and Noble

Description:

Terrifyingly authentic, London-set debut crime novel with a psychological edge, by an ex-Met detective. Perfect for fans of Mark Billingham, Peter James and Stuart MacBride.

DI Sean Corrigan is not like other detectives. The terrible abuse he suffered in childhood hasn’t stopped him enjoying family life with his wife and two daughters, or pursuing an impressive career with South London’s Murder Investigation Unit. But it has left him with an uncanny ability to identify the darkness in others – a darkness he recognizes still exists deep within his own psyche and battles to keep buried there. Now Sean’s on the trail of the most dangerous killer he’s ever encountered. The perpetrator has no recognizable MO, leaves no forensic evidence and his victims have nothing in common. But Sean knows they were all murdered by the same man. Now all he has to do is find the evidence, convince his bosses and stop the killing …before his adversary gets too close to home…

My Thoughts:

Early in this book we walk through the crime with the murderer as he kills a young man named Daniel Graydon who was a gay man who charged his clients for sexual services.  Next we get meet D. I Sean Corrigan who has this ability to know what the killer thinks and how he killed his victim.  All clues lead to one killer, but Corrigan is positive that their suspect has committed crimes before.  Even though his record appears squeaky clean Corrigan’s gut says there is more to this than meets the eye.

This book takes place in South London, which has different lingo but still a great story with fabulous characters and makes you wonder to what extent will Corrigan and his team go to get their bad guy.  This book was full of action and a big case of cat and mouse chase.  This book would be great for anyone who loves James Patterson’s Private series or British based crime books.  Definitely a great read and really entertaining.  I loved it.

Involvement with an international organization of sex abusers. The more she learns, the more danger she faces. My Thoughts:

This book starts out with Elle and her ending her marriage with Charlie and going out with her friends who end up discussing how to do a man in.  Elle ends up bored at the bar and decides to head home.  When she finds her ex-husband to be dead on the sofa in her house with a knife.  Soon it becomes obvious that Elle is in trouble and has to figure out what is going on.  What an adventure this book takes you on with the ups and downs.  It’s a great thrilling ride that many would love to go on!

Description:

Just as love appears, so does the darkness. With her heart reaching out for one man, Brenna finds herself the target of an unknown stalker. Who is he? What does he want? How far will he go for her? Death is an option. Brenna discovers more than she bargained for and learns that the stalker will kill for her. It all comes down to decisions, and no matter what she chooses it will demand sacrifice and someone’s blood.

My Thoughts:

This was a great thriller/supernatural/romance book. First we have Brenna who is new to the town and has two men fighting over her. One is Eaton a local cop who wants a deeper relationship with Breena and Slaton who feels a deep connection to Breena that she is feeling back. A unknown person also has his eyes on Breena and is set to become powerful with the help of her whether she agrees to or not. What an intriguing books. Had me hooked until I was finished and can’t wait to see how it plays out. What a great book!

Title: Flight

Pages: 255

Format: ebook Arc
Series: The Crescent Chronicles #1

Description:

Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

My Thoughts:

I was given this book in exchange for a honest and fair review.  I received no money to sway my opinion.

Allie and her friend Jess take to New Orleans for a job working for Allie’s father.  Allie is all set in her path in life to go to Princeton.  What she didn’t count on was meeting Levi who seems to fire something inside of her not even she could predict.  Jess starts out as a typical friend the opposite of Allie early on Jess ends up leaving and in so leaves Allie on her own like her father does.  She takes up with Levi knowing that there is something mysterious about him and doing her best to figure it out.

We also meet Levi’s friend Jared, Owen and Owen’s sister Hailey.  Hailey ends up being a great friend to Allie bonding with her.  Filing in the hole left by Jess, Hailey fills in Allie on the supernatural side of Levi.

I really enjoyed this story I can’t wait to see how it continues it’s definitely up there with some of the greatest YA authors like Lauren Kate, Becca Fitzpatrick and Cate Tiernan to mention a few.  I think everyone who loves YA, paranormal will love this story!
