My Thoughts:

What a great story about a woman who fights the system using her faith in God to be a force to reckon with.  She stands up against Racists acts within a school district, and Principal who do little to nothing.  She tries to go through proper channels upon that not working she goes further and goes to the school board and in the end the NAACP to get her students to not feel the pressure or racism and fair punishment for all kids regardless of color.  Ms. Killings spent all her efforts to better the school for the kids and in the end that is the downfall.

I think anyone looking to work in schools and implement change would be blessed to read this book.  We get a glimpse into the world of teachers and educators and how it’s not all roses that sometimes things happen and we can either ignore them or help fight for change!  I think what Ms. Killings did took a lot of courage and as we saw in this story not all of it worked out for the best, but atleast she fought back!

What an emotional and gripping story!  Definitely a great non-fiction book everyone should check it out!
